I guess you can think of this as a Star Wars kind of a situation, where the prequels came after the sequels…
From an execution standpoint, The ChefspeRITIC is the brainchild of MY brainchild, Chefsperiment- a site cum blog for health and wellness guidance and inspiration to innovate healthy and flavorful foods right in your kitchen. There is a clever “critic” in the title, The ChefspeRITIC (in case you didn’t pick up on the CAPS), which refers to the food critic in me. Because trying out new places exposed me to new flavors and combinations of ingredients and gave me a sense of what I look for in a place and its food, critiquing is the inspiration FOR all the wacky (but delish) snacks I whip up. Basically, this is the prequel to Chefsperiment, even though it came after. Get it? Ok good.
I should also let you know that most of the places on here will be more one-of-a-kind, with something distinct that separates it from any regular restaurant, cafe, or bar. A dear friend and I have a rule, that every time we go out to eat, it HAS to be a new place (99% of the time). This “No-Repeat” rule eventually pushed us out far beyond our comfort zone, which is great. We also go in with the mindset that the world just may end tomorrow, so let’s order the craziest thing off the menu that we won’t ever be able to try otherwise.
Though based out of New Jersey and working in Manhattan, I just plain and simply love London. I studied abroad there my junior year of college and paid it another heartfelt visit a few years later. So while most of the content will be based on places in NYC/NJ, you’ll see a collection of English restaurants, cafes, and bars.
